UPDATE 2:

This camporee is different from any we’ve attended before. There are some special requirements in order to attend

Departure

Please be at the Scout Shed as close to 3:30PM FRIDAY AFTERNOON as possible. We will be departing for Mataguay at 4:00PM sharp! We must fight the traffic, get checked in, set up camp and cook dinner, all before dark. There will be no time to waste! Pack the night before!!!!

What to Wear

Everyone must wear their Class A uniform for travel and flag ceremonies (just like summer camp.) Bring your Class B or Viking regalia when not in Class A.

Return

We should return around 11:00AM Sunday morning. Please be there promptly to pick up your scout.

Leadership

Even though the patrols have been combined to create two Viking Clans (Mangus and Raiders) we still need troop leadership. Jackon will be our SPL, and Austin Fritz our ASPL. Both will have troop duties so each clan should select a clan leader.

What to Bring

  1. Printed and completed Medical Forms parts A (two copies) and B1-B2 (one copy) – Part C is not needed. If the date on the forms from last year’s summer camp is later than 6/19/2023 then you can use those forms! BRING YOUR PAPER FORMS EVEN IF YOU HAVE PROVIDED THEM TO MR. HASSANEIN
  2. If you plan to participate in any shooting sports you need to complete the Firearm Permission form, print it, and bring it with you.

  1. Daypack with 10 essentials. Especially a water bottle and sunscreen!!!

  1. Wear suitable footwear. There will be a lot of walking, so hiking boots are strongly suggested if you have them. NO OPEN TOED SHOES OR SANDALS.

  1. Viking Regalia. The more your clan looks like Vikings the more points your clan will earn. Viking helmets, face paint, etc., are all great additions. Think Ragnar, king of the Vikings.

  1. Clan Flag – Either bring an existing patrol flag from the shed, or create one there.
  2. Usual Camping Equipment (e.g. Tent, sleeping bag, mess kit)
  3. Food to feed your clan – Don’t forget to bring food for your clan if you were assigned a meal at Monday’s meeting. Don’t forget to check out a cook kit. Please put cold food, like eggs, in a cooler with ice. The troop has no coolers for you to use.

See you Friday afternoon!

Mr. Fritz

UPDATE:

If the ranges become available, each scout needs a signed copy of the Firearm permission form to use them: https://www.sdicbsa.org/Camping/Common/Docs/FirearmPermission.pdf
