Volunteer to help bring fresh food to local low-income communities. Pick up food donations from local
stores, setup up food distribution, help sort food donations, make friendly connections with the
community, help clean up after distribution.
Sundays 8:30 – 10:30am, various local locations
Sign up preferably 4-6 months in advance, about 10-15 volunteers max, all ages welcome.

Traveling Stories
Scouts will help pick out toys using a list of orders placed by young readers in their reading program.
They will then measure the orders and finally print labels to get them shipped!

Joey’s Wings
Various opportunities helping to spread awareness of childhood cancer. Opportunity in the past has
included 3hr volunteer slots at San Diego Fair. Free entry is included for volunteers and teach people
how to fold origami cranes (instructions provided) and help spread awareness.

First Presbyterian Church of San Diego
Join First Presbyterian Church downtown for their Ladle soup kitchen program to feed the
homeless. Sundays arrive by 1:15pm, 3hrs of service. Volunteering can include fulfilling clothes
order requests and food prep.

Flag Raising at San Diego Fair
Apply usually in January (deadline April) to raise the flag at the San Diego Fair. Free entry and
VIP parking passes (ltd quantity) are usually provided. Raise the flag opening the fair daily.

Worm Wrangling – (conservation hours)
Volunteer to help with worm compost bins which are used by the local community. Separate worms
from their castings, sift castings, feed worms and make “worm burritos”, Build new worm beds, Move
breeder worms to new homes.

Coastal Roots Farm

Sunday in the Soil Volunteering – (conservation hours)
Sundays, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Great for families (participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). Seasonal Farm activities to
help maintain our education farm and garden. Tasks may include weeding, mulching, planting,
harvesting, bed prep.

I Love Clean San Diego – (conservation hours)
For both Cleanups registration opens on the 1 st day of the month of the cleanup. Volunteer anytime
between 9-12 at a designated site. You can reach out to them ahead of time and request a site that
needs invasive species removal vs a beach cleanup. Signup slots fill up quickly. We have removed ice
plants before. Patches are available first come first serve.
