Troop 782 2026 swim test
If you are attending summer camp, you will need to take a swim classification test to be permitted to participate in any water activities.
This is for both scouts and adults attending.
We are offering testing slots this week on Friday (5th June) and Sunday (7th June) for those attending Chawanakee. Please note we have a limit on the number of participants in the pool at a time. This is simply a quick testing slot and unfortunately you may not stay to swim afterwards.
Please sign up for a testing slot here:
Location: The Club at Lopelia Meadows

FAQ:
1. I swim on a swim team and have a USA time, can you just use this? Unfortunately scouting America does not have an exemption in place and you will still need to take the test.
2. I have attended summer camp before, can you just use last year’s test? No, you will need to take the test again.
3. How long will the swim test take? This will depend on your swimming ability. Some club swimmers may be done within 2 mins and others may take 8-10 minutes.
4. Can I wear goggles or a rash guard or use fins? You may not wear goggles or fins. You may wear a rash guard, but make sure it is tight fitting, as loose rash guards can impede your swimming ability.
5. Can I cover any rank requirements? Yes, everyone who passes the full swim test will complete First Class requirement 6a. If time permits Callum will try and help scouts cover Second class requirements 5a-d
4. Are there restrooms? Yes, but we request that you arrive ready to swim and use facilities at home before arriving as much as possible.
6.Who is administering the swim test? Callum McCall, Troop 782 Eagle scout ( supported by 2 registered adults with swim safe defense training).
Callum is a trained lifeguard and swim instructor holding the professional certifications below :
– Certified YMCA Lifeguard with CPR/AED/First Aid and Medical Oxygen certifications (Expires 11/09/2027)
– Certified YMCA Swim Instructor (Expires 08/10/2027)
– Certified Lifeguard, American Red Cross (Expires 07/14/2026)
– CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross (Expires 07/14/2026)
7.What if I can’t make any of the timeslots? Unfortunately we need access to a suitable pool and we need all the required qualified persons available to run the testing and these are the only slots currently being offered. If you can’t make these timeslots there will be other opportunities at various summer camps etc.
